I’m home! We got back to Singapore yesterday night and it felt so good to finally be back in my comfy bed and where I can resume my usual eating routines. My stomach has gone topsy-turvey from my diet in Bali!
Yesterday morning was pretty well spent as we woke up early to devour our scrumptious hotel breakfast for the last time before taking a shuttle bus to our hotel’s private beach club. The beach club is not exactly private but it definitely is quieter and away from the bulk of tourists.
Located just 5 minutes away from Nusa Dua’s famous water blow, we took a walk over and were shocked to see that the area where tourists usually stood to experience the water blow was blocked off because the railing was broken. Yes, that’s how dangerous it is! Despite not being able to experience the water blow first hand and at high tide, being able to witness it was already pretty damn great.

It wasn't exactly high tide when we were there but thankfully, we managed to see a few huge blows! Though not captured on camera. |

Try spotting the broken railing that's jutting out! |
For those of you who are wondering what causes the water blow, well, thanks to the formation of the rocks, the pressure of the waves drastically increases upon hitting the cliff causing it to blow up. During high tides, the water blow can be a very very scary and dangerous phenomenon and there have been quite a couple of cases whereby tourists get pulled into the sea by the blow and spent hours trying to swim back to shore. That is why the locals built railings for tourists to grab onto while experiencing the water blow.
Back at our hotel’s private beach club, I took a dip in the extremely shallow sea before heading back to the hotel to pack up.
We left our luggage with the hotel and went back to Ibu Oki for our final meal here in Bali (yaaas we love that place!). After lunch, we managed to squeeze in a 1 and a half hour massage at 3D Spa, a spa just beside Ibu Oki. Le’s Balinese Massage was only IDR 200k while I, on the other hand, think I got ripped off.
I wanted an Aloe Vera Scrub but it was only 60 minutes long so I asked if I could add on another 30 minute of Balinese Massage to make it 1 and a half hour. They were very compliant and said yes to everything until it was time for payment.
They charged me a full hour of Balinese massage even though I only did 30 minutes of it and claimed that “they don’t care whether I did 30 or 60 minutes they will still charge for 60 minutes just because the menu says so”. The worst part was that while trying to reason with them, they lady just blurted out “your transport back to the hotel is here”, obviously trying to chase us away. I WAS SO PISSED but ended up just letting it slide because I didn’t want to be late for my flight back and well, I guess could afford that $7 loss.
Not stereotyping but as much as I enjoyed my stay in Bali, I would still much rather travel to the Philippines because the bulk of local there don’t seem as money-centric.
When we arrived at the International Airport, I was quite shocked to realise that we had to check-in before getting our plane tickets? Idk it was weird. Nevertheless, despite having quite a bad end to my Bali trip, I still enjoyed this (not-so) little island and really wish I had more time to explore places like the North.
Thanks for staying with me throughout all 9 days of my trip and I hope to be able to be back soon with my next. As of now, my next trip will probably be a short one to Penang with Zhenfeng before he enlists. I’ll keep you guys updated!
xx.
