Thailand // Day 10 & 11 - Bloom Cafe + Getting to Pattaya

All sticky and warm, smelling like rust, covered in what seemed like dirt and dust -  basically what it felt like amidst finding comfort in between sleeps on a 15 hours, non-air-conditioned 20SGD journey.

Yesterday was a helluva day. I woke up for brunch and visited a nearby café called Bloom and instinctively had salad again to make up for the lack of fibre my brain kept bugging me with.

Went back to the apartment to pack up and had our last few hours with Perry and Mo. Kind as usual, they offered to give us a lift to the train station so they could also bid a final goodbye to Marcus. We got to the train station in about 20 minutes and I was so amazed at the choo choo trains :’) I felt like Harry Potter!!!!! Disclaimer: this is my first time on a choo choo train so pardon my overreaction.
We bid our final farewell to Perry and Mo before boarding the train to wait for Marcus.

3:29PM – train departs in a minute: we were on edge hoping he’d be able to get here on time.
3:30PM – train departs: we hoped and prayed that Marcus was at the head of the train making his way towards us.
3:31PM – he picked up our call. He missed the train.

Mid-panic, we received a message from Perry saying that Marcus was safe with him. Turns out, he was late because he fell of his bike and went to the hospital to treat his wound. With the knowledge of him being safe with them, we went on to have our fair share of fun on a not-so-fun train ride.

It really wasn’t much. We spent a few hours trying to get a good photo of me looking out the window (so much for “looking” effortless!) before having dinner. Dinner was horrible but we were too hungry to care. Most of what happened after dinner was a blur because I kept fleeting in and out of sleeps thanks to my motion-sickness meds.

The next morning…..
Was woken up by the smell of bread and it was breakfast time! I wiped my face with wet tissue and GOSH IT TURNED GREY.

After finally arriving in Bangkok, we went through another round of ordeal (Marcus’ friend MIA-ed on us entirely) and ended up flagging a taxi down to Pattaya. It was 1500B but we caved in due to the lack of sleep and undying urge to shower ASAP.

Marcus already checked in by the time we got there so we had what felt like a shower in heaven and went out for lunch!

We walked around after lunch and were awfully disappointed by everything – the lack of activities (most had to be booked in advance), the dirty beach, the expensive cab rides and the unfriendly locals.
Awfully pleased to have at least seen such a gorgeous sunset

Me sneaking around like a thief just to get a nice photo haha!

Were we just unlucky? I’m not sure; but we ended up taking a long walk under the scorching hot sun feeling like dehydrated roast pork back to the resort. After resting up a bit, Kay Wei and I went out to visit the beach and snap some photos (as seen above!). Marcus was dead and gone thanks to his painkillers and only resurrected after 10PM LOL.

Still tired from the rough night before, I’ll probably have an early night and pack a lil. We’ll be leaving for Bangkok tomorrow and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to leave Pattaya. What a wasted trip here.
