Thailand // Day 9 - Sticky Waterfalls

View from the first floor
The sticky waterfall is working!!!!! After experiencing the extremely dry “water”fall yesterday, I was quite afraid that the same might have happened to the Sticky Waterfall. Thankfully, a lot of water was falling and it was soooooo relaxing.

We took a drive up North for about an hour before stopping somewhere along the way for lunch. And thanks to google maps, we took a drive amidst the forest and back onto a road…. Not sure what google maps was thinking but at least we got out alive! The road was very bumpy and the car felt like it was about to fall apart so if it happens to you too, fret not, it’s just google maps. You’ll get there safely either way.
The only place that was open for lunch
There are 3 floors to the waterfall and we went to the 3rd because it’s the quietest and farthest away. As Perry mentioned, there really were lots of locals having picnics on the highest floor on the waterfall. The 3rd, on the other hand, was more peaceful and had lesser people.

The Sticky Waterfall is known to be “sticky” and climbable, unlike other waterfalls, because of the minerals found on the rocks. I was initially slightly sceptical about how “sticky” it could get but was pleased to know that it isn’t sticky but just not slippery at all! I had a great time climbing around and although there still were some small slippery areas, as long as you’re careful, you’re good to go. Climb away fellas ;)

You can actually climb all the way up with this rope!!
Just as we were about to leave, we saw a map and a walkway pointing in another direction and decided to venture there a lil. It wasn't much, just a small pool and a short story of the history of that small pool.
Young monks having a break. How adorable!
Back at the apartment, we were contemplating between cooking a Singaporean-style meal for Mo to try or have her bring us out for dinner but the latter prevailed. We decided to use this as a form of thanks for bringing us all the way up the Sticky Waterfall because it’ll usually cost at least 1000B/person.

Kay Wei and I headed to Tesco, somewhat like NTUC, and got the necessary ingredients before he began his chef-sterpiece. He cooked salted egg prawns, long beans, steamed eggs and fried rice. Everything turned out pretty well except for the salted egg prawns because we didn’t have dried curry leaves nooooo. Oh and while cooking, Mo actually taught me how to make a Thai salted egg salad dish with the leftover egg whites! I’ll definitely bring it back to SG. Thanks Mo :’)

It’s quite sad that we’ll be leaving for Pattaya tomorrow afternoon. I really wouldn’t mind staying longer and spending more time with Perry and Mo.

Anyways, tomorrow’s train departs Chiang Mai at 330PM and reaches Bangkok at 5:30AM. I don’t know what I’m gonna do for so long gosh. Time to download some shows maybe? Xx.
