Japan // Day 1 - Rinku Town (Shopping)

Getting escorted by 2 policemen to my AirBNB apartment might just be one of my few once in a lifetime experiences ever.

We arrived in Osaka today at 4PM after taking a transit flight from Hong Kong. With Rinku Town only a train stop away from the airport, it was our first destination instead of going straight to our AirBNB apartment.

Rinku Town is a Premium Outlet Stores that sell goods of many premium brands including Adidas, Nike, Coach, Birkenstock, etc. If you’re lucky you can get some at really cheap prices. I managed to snag an Adidas small backpack for only SGD$30 while Gerald got an Adidas drawstring bag for only $20. The place also looks really photo worthy I couldn’t bear to keep my camera off for more than 5 minutes when I wasn’t in a store!

Dinner was at a sushi place nearby. The sushi was God-like :’) coming to Japan will probably make me hate most Japanese food in Singapore but OHWELL.

Apparently they don't give spoons and the miso soup is supposed to be drunk this way!
I’m not much a fan of miso soups but this was so good! There was a generous amount of clams in the soup as well.
As for the Chawanmushi, it’s been awhile since I last ate one with so many ingredients in it – Ginko nut, mushroom, unagi and prawn. The sushi's rice to topping ratio is also so much better than Singapore's 2:1.

I don't usually enjoy this but when in Japan PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY! LOOK at how big the egg is
Our total bill added up to 7.5k yen which was really quite worth it!

With the only wifi we had from the train station, we roamed the human freezer streets and decided to stop by a tako stall to try what many said to be “The Best” in Osaka while asking them for directions. The takos were tasty but the outer shell (if that’s what you call it) was too soggy.

We walked and walked and walked…. But still couldn’t find our apartment. With the help of some locals that took my friends away for so long I was afraid they got kidnapped, they found the apartment but not the lock. When they called the host, the host was of absolutely no help and told us to visit a nearby police station. After tons of broken Japanese conversation and confusion, we finally got to our apartment with the help of 2 policemen who escorted us all the way there.

Out of boredom while waiting for our seemingly kidnapped friends
KOBAN - a small neighbourhood police station
Thank you :')
I’d say that we were really lucky to have met a Japanese lady who was so kind enough to follow us through this entire mess and made sure we were in safe hands (the police) before leaving. It was almost 10PM by then and we were deadbeat from not sleeping the night before thanks to the 645AM flight.

My AirBNB apartment about a minute before the white space was no longer visible - only 2 huge luggage
The steps were so steep I just have to document it down LOL

It’s horribly 3AM Japan time now and I’ve to wake at 6AM for USJ tomorrow. Goodnight now, xx.
