| Thailand's Grand Canyon |
Hello! Today was an extremely fun yet tiring day. We got back to the apartment not too long ago and it’s probably the latest we’ve even been back!
We visited Chiang Mai’s version of the Grand Canyon today and it was so much fun! Before that, we were contemplating between driving and renting a motorbike for our transport there because it’s so much cheaper than renting a song thaew. We ended up renting a motorbike and, with the help of our kind AirBNB host, Mo, (she followed us all the way there and even taught us how to drive it!) got it for only 150B/motorbike for 24 hours. I tried riding but failed super badly so, to save my life, I ended up on the backseat *thank God*
It was approx. a 30 minute drive up to the Grand Canyon and the road was pretty simple if you followed a GPS. Most of the journey were to just go straight ahead.

When we got there, we were in awe of how vast it was! There were tons of people but it didn’t feel populated at all. After much contemplation, we decided to leave our things right beside where we were cliff diving because, really, who would take our things if it’s left there? LOL.
Off we went to jump! It was a 10M jump into a 32M manmade pool that was largely made up of rain water. The buoyancy is a lot different from normal sea water which is why a weak swimmer like me ended up struggling for my life on the way back up. It was a lot harder to stay afloat so I really do recommend weak swimmer to stay on the safe side and rent a life jacket or float.
Deadbeat after waging a war with the water for air, we decided to wash up and get a quick drink before the traffic got too heavy for first-time driver Kay Wei.

Back at the apartment, we googled for some good dinner places and indisputably agreed on a seafood restaurant called Lert Ros. With lady luck not on our side, one of the bikes broke down and we had to call Mo for help. She, like an angel sent from above, swooped over and had the problem fixed in no time. We were famished by then so we settled for a nearby food stall and had Wonton Noodles instead.

Too afraid to drive anymore, we got a song thaew and headed for the Sunday Night Market after parking the bikes outside our apartment. The Sunday Night Market is located near the Western Gate, in the Old City, on Rachadamnoen Road. What made it different from the usual night markets is that it was mainly for locals to showcase and sell their own products. We came across many street performances while walking around and were caught by this one particular act – a few seemingly foreigners playing huge weird-looking instruments while a lady dances and swings some ball on a string. It really wasn’t the lady that caught our attention but more of the music and the instruments they were using.

I’ll be heading up to the village tomorrow to meet Marcus’ friends and I hope the view turns out spectacular. Xx.
