Today was our final day here in Chiang Rai and we’ll be headed for Chiang Mai via bus tomorrow morning! Having mixed feelings about leaving this place although I really am excited for what Chiang Mai has in store for me. Enough of that – today, was a pretty chill day because we’ve visited everything we’ve wanted to visit.
Rise and shine was at about 11AM today for us sleepyheads and we headed to try the highly raved Rote Yiam Beef Noodles. It is located West of the Clock Tower (a few stores before the 1st cross junction after the Clock Tower) and closes at 3PM. The beef was tender, broth rich to the right degree and noodles cooked just right. A perfect fit for the hype.
Next, we decided to head to the Singha Park because we had nowhere else to go. It was a 15-20 minutes song thaew ride that costed us 60B. The park was huge and had many activities for visitors to take part in. For us, we decided to simply take a walk.
Much to our dismay, most of the park is only accessible if we rent a bike and we felt that it was too pricey so we gave it a miss. The cakes sold at the café were pretty pricey too so we decided to head back to the city and see what else we can do there instead.
On our way back, we got some buns from this steamed bun shop that caught both Kay Wei and my eyes this morning while we were looking for the Beef Noodles. It tasted pretty normal, nothing wow, but looked pretty good. The bun broke apart really easily too.
Contemplating what to do next while craving some Mango Sticky Rice, we took a walk and realised that the #2 restaurant on TripAdvisor – Barrab – was just a short walk away from our hostel. With that, we settled for an extremely early dinner at 5PM and had Khao Soi. I tried it once before in Golden Mile Complex and was really disappointed with the quality of this! The curry taste was so mild and didn’t make me feel like I was in Thailand L the Mango Sticky Rice (80B) was pretty decent. They gave an entire mango for that price so I’d say it was really quite worth it!

We took a long walk (bc we got lost oops) back to the bus station to change the bus timing so we wouldn’t waste our first day in Chiang Mai. Thankfully, there was no additional charge and we successfully managed to change the bus timing for 130PM to 11AM!
Unsure what to do next, we headed for a Thai Massage, again! This time, we tried another place. It was better than the one we did previously. This masseuse targeted more areas and had more solid movements.
On our way back to the hostel, we walked past the cat café and decided to patronize it since we still had time. Much to our delight, it wasn’t a pay per hour concept like those in Singapore. Instead, all we had to do was get a drink or cake to enjoy the company of those feline cuties.

Now, it’s time for bed! We’ll be waking up early to do some handicraft (included in stay package) with our host before leaving for Chiang Mai. Ttfn xx.
