My family and I didn't have much time or finances to travel overseas this holidays so we decided to explore Singapore. A few days ago, we went to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and just two days ago, we decided to drop by Lazarus Island. Lazarus Island is a gorgeous island with water as clear as that of Boracay. However, if you're looking for more than just chilling by the beach under the hot sun, this ain't the place for you.
We took a short drive to Marina South Pier and bought a two-way ferry ticket to St. John's Island. The ferry departed at 10am and arrived at St. John's Island at about 10.30am.
We then took a long slow walk to Lazarus Island. It was pretty easy to get there actually. After walking through the shelter, we just had to take a left turn and follow the path all way till we saw a shelter to our right.
7 cats in the photo - can you spot them? ;)
Before settling down for lunch (we brought our own food), we decided to explore the island a little more. We walking past Lazarus Island to Seringat Island. There was literally nothing apart from greens. But I loved the fact that there were sparrows flying around everywhere! So pretty.
After getting bored of only seeing greens, we decided to walk to the end of the beach and find a shady area at the break waters for lunch. We found an almost perfect spot but to our despair, there were too many mosquitoes so we ended up sitting under the sun on the beach instead.
And here we are!
After settling down, I ditched my camera for the shimmering waters. I sweat it felt like I was back in Boracay all over again and it was oh so grrrreat. We hung around, in and out of the water, until 1.30pm and headed back to St. John's Island where we took our bath.
Relaxing on the lifeguard tower while waiting for our ferry!
The ferry arrived at 2pm and brought us to Kusu Island. Kusu Island is an island not too far off from Lazarus Island. Legend says that a magical tortoise turned itself into an island so as to save two shipwrecked sailors, which is why Kusu Island is flooded with tortoises everywhere. Super adorable!
There were little cozy huts all over the island so we decided to sit there and relax until the ferry departed at 4pm.
It was a really enjoyable and interesting experience for me and definitely a really good getaway for someone who doesn't have the time or money to travel overseas.
Thanks for reading! x.
