Elephant Cave, Water Temple, Mt Batur, Tegallalang Rice Terrance – anything caught your attention? Well, I visited all of them today and it was grrrrreat!

View from our hotel |
We started our day up on the rooftop of the hotel for breakfast with a really pleasant view. The food was just meh but we were on a tight schedule and had to find the fastest breakfast option available. Our driver arrived at 10AM and first took us to the Elephant Cave.
Welcomed by rows of tourist shops, we headed to get our entrance tickets for IDR 15k and made our way in together with a sarong provided for all tourists. A tour guide came over to provide us a free tour of the cave. I suggest you get one too because you’ll definitely not understand anything without a guide! After a tour around the inside of the cave he brought us to climb around the ruins of the Budha Temple that was ruined by an earthquake.

Finally back in the car after sweating buckets from climbing tons of steps, our driver took us to the Water Temple which had the same entrance fee as the Elephant Cave. For some reason, even my grandparents had to wear a sarong despite being covered up!
Anyhoo, we went with the crowd and eventually ended up at the Spring Water Pool. Some were bathing, some were just taking photos and since we did not have the privilege to bathe in the water, we just dipped our feet and basked in the comfort it provided on a scorching hot day.
Just when we were about to exit from where we came from, a local directed us to the exit which required us to walk through rows of locals shouting “1 dollar!” while holding up products from their stall. Quite a turn off imo.
Boni Bali, a small restaurant perching on a corner of Tegelallang Rice Terrace away from the hustle and bustle of tourists, was our stop for lunch. Our driver introduced this restaurant to us but apart from the view, we were very disappointed with what we got.
Tuna and Pork Curry were more like green curry thus not spicy – pork was my favourite dish we got!
Fillet Mignon was bad. Bali Beef Raon’s beef chunks were overcooked.
My Nasi Campur was beautifully plated yet poorly executed.
The fruit juices, on the other hand, were spectacular! Especially the Orange Juice.

Our total bill added up to IDR 627k for 6 so it was still pretty alright for a restaurant at such a fancy location.
Following lunch, we headed up to where the air felt very much like aircon to see Mt and Lake Batur. Our driver stopped by a random village stall selling fruits and we bought 2kg of oranges, 2kg of passion fruit and 1 kg of snakeskin fruit. It was soooo tasty!
We headed for out last stop at tegellalang rice terrace to snap some photos and had some fun climbing around the rice terrace. Definitely a must-go if you enjoy climbing around.

After giving Melting Wok a miss last night, we decided to give it a try again today but IT WAS CLOSED! I was so upset because we went through quite a lot to finally locate the warung, sigh. We then walked further up to Fair Warung Bale but were sent away because they didn’t have any available table for 6. Tired and hungry from all the rejection, we settled at Nomad, a restaurant we happen to walk by while on the way to Fair Warung Bale.
(photos taken with iPhone cuz my camera batt died)
Thank God the food didn’t disappoint! I looove their lemongrass tea and lychee tea.
Our bill added up to about IRD 710k – great price for great food.
Tired from a long day of travelling, we headed back to the hotel to rest. My parents, along with Le and I, will be headed for White Water Rafting tomorrow morning and I’m excited! Time for some snooooze. The boy beside me is already snoring away!
xx.
