Beijing // Day 3 - Temple of Heaven

Yesterdaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, Sean & I were finally on our own, for real. No aunt, no tour guide, just us. And indeed, we had lotsa fun! Sadly the haze seems to be coming back, ohwells.

Firstly, I didn’t have to wake up insanely early (NOT a morning person) and so we left the house at about 2pm and made our way down to the Temple of Heaven. It is such a gorgeous place! What I loved the most about it wasn’t the temples but the park within the temple. After buying our tickets and making our way towards the temples, we saw many different things like locals dancing, singing, etc etc. Although I’m pretty sure they’re all there just for tourists to see (lol) it was quite an interesting sight! When we finally got to the temples, we looked around and snapped a few photos of the temple. There were many tourists there because it was a Saturday but it didn’t feel that way at all! The entire area was very spacious and we had a lot of room to roam about freely and see what we needed to see.

 gambling :o

 choir!!

After getting a tad bit bored of the temples, we decided to roam the outskirts of the temple and that was where the beauty began. For some reason, the parks were populated with barely anyone and getting photos like this

wasn’t tough at all. There was this particular part of the park that I really loved because all the trees were planted so in line! Maybe due to my mild OCD, it made me really happy to see how they were all so neatly planted hahaha!

Tired from all the walking, we decided to have dinner before going shopping at Hong Qiao Pearl Market which was a short distance from the Temple of Heaven. We walked so much to find a place to eat that when we finally sat down, our legs were aching! We settled at a small book bar opposite the Temple of Heaven and well, the food was fairly alright for its price. We only spent SG$10 for a pot of duck noodles soup and a (huge) plate of beef dumplings. It was really filling but the duck noodles soup wasn’t exactly tasty. The first sip was bland and as we went, it started to get okay before the ginger taste started getting a little too strong. It was, however, a good find because it seemed like a really nice place to chill! A big group of local teenagers were hanging around in the cafĂ© bar and playing some games while sipping on coffee bought from the shop. I didn’t get a chance to try their drinks but if I did, I most definitely would.

After dinner, we headed back to Hong Qiao Pearl Market but to our dismay, it was closed! It was only 730pm but I heard that the building closes at 6pm. It was unfortunate because before dinner, we did enter the mall to look for a place to eat and we saw lots of nice shoes there! Hopefully we will have time in the upcoming days to visit that place again.
Thankfully, McDonald’s wasn’t closed so we went in to have some desserts and drinks from the McCafe. We wanted to go to Starbucks but it was closed too.

Back home, we rested for a short while before heading to the foot massage opposite my aunt’s place! It was a great experience and the masseurs were all really friendly and nice. Before massaging our legs, the masseuses did a little of our head and back while we soaked our feet in hot water! Felt sooooo good. And when he finally started working on our foot, I fell asleep. I got no idea how, but I just did hahahahaha. After the massage, back home we went!

Goodnight now, will be waking up early (9am) tomorrow!
