Beijing // Day 1 - Xidan, Shopping

Hello!!
Today was grrrrreat. My aunt brought Sean & I around today and it was fun! We initially wanted to go to Xidan on our own to do shopping because I (with Sherwin's help HAHA) read that it was really good place to visit for shopping but my aunt already intended on bringing us there today so there we went.

First up, we took the subway down to Xidan station and went to Joy City. To my disappointment, it was sooooo normal. They had Zara, H&M, Starbucks, generally everything you'd find in a typical mall in Singapore. So instead, we headed to Xidan Department Store. We walked around a little and to our dismay, although the clothes actually looked pretty alright in general, I didn't find much except for this olive bag that was kinda pretty but SG$20. I miiiight be back again to get that! :D

Joy City!

Next up we went to Xidan Supermarket which had barely anything so off for lunch we went. I'm not too sure where this restaurant was but I think it is in Xidan Shopping Center. We had hotpot and the sour & spicy soup was soooo good. I heard from my aunt that's something you don't get much of unless you're in Beijing. The vegetables were free flow and we kept finding fish in it even till all of us were super full! They give a really generous serving of fish, I must say. The beef was fairly okay but their lamb was gamy :/ I guess it isn’t easy to find lamb that isn’t gamy. Ohwell~

It was about 4pm after lunch and when we were trying to catch a cab, we chanced upon the main entrance of Xidan Shopping Center and so we went in to shop. The first floor was mostly accessories, the second-shoes, and so on and so forth. The shopping was really organized! LOL. Managed to get myself a pair of boots which I regretted not bargaining more for :/ it was originally SG$70+ like what?!? but I ended paying half which turned out to still be quite a lot oops hahaha.

After Xidan Shopping Center, we headed down to 南锣鼓巷 (nan luo gu xiang)! It is a street near the Fobidden City which used to be where the people of lower rankings in the palace stay. Currently, it holds mostly tourist attractions like shops, cafes and food to-go. We took a long stroll down the loooong street and managed to get some stuff! Although we didn't buy much, we saw many interesting things which we sadly weren't allowed to take photos of :( by the time we were about to leave, it was already dark and freeeeezing. We decided to deliver pizza over to my aunt's place cause we were going to wake up early tomorrow to get ready to climb the great wall of china!! *cue grand music*

12 sq meter small bar!!!

Tried churros for the first time in my life hehe

Dinner was Bacon and Cheese Sticks and a 14" pizza-half four cheese and half smoked pork and mushroom from Gung Ho! The four cheese is really good but if you dislike the taste of blue cheese then this is not for you, haha.

After dinner, had a bath and here I am, on my bed, about to go to sleep cause I am sooo tired and I have to wake at 730am tomorrow(!!!!).

Goodnight guyyyys. Can't wait for tomorrow!
